Our first trip into Guatemala from the Rio was to Guatemala City to pick up Abby at the airport. We stayed at the Spring Hotel in Zona 1. We stayed here everytime we came to Guatemala City even though Zona 1 is supposed to be dangerous. We didn't find it so... we walked around during the day, but did take taxis at night if we wanted to go somewhere.
