Ship's Logs and Trip Diaries Detailed information on provisioning, checking in, marinas/anchorages, etc. is available at our SaltySailors.com website. Belize 2006June 1-2: San Pedro
Went into town to Immigration & Customs and checked in with no problems. Details are on www.saltysailors.com. San Pedro has not changed much. It is still a very fast paced with too many cars & golf carts. Our friends on Suenos came in to anchor and we visited with them for a few minutes, but we were ready to crash after a night at sea. Stayed overnight so we could provision. We went to the grocery, then Thane got fuel & propane and we headed back to the boat. Since San Pedro is not one of our favorite places, we chose to go ahead and head out for Cay Caulker. June 3-4: Cay Caulker
We met Aaron & Lyla, s/v Blow Me Away, and had cocktails on their boat. We had a lot of fun and look forward to spending more time with them in the Rio. June 5 - 6: Cay Caulker to Colson Cayes to PlacenciaNot much exciting to report. Motor sailed to the Colson Cayes and spent the night. Did see a manatee's tail as he was swimming away! Got up the next morning and motor sailed to Placencia. Looking forward to meeting up with Hal & Lynn s/v Griffin. June 6 - 18: PlacenciaI had forgotten how beautiful Placencia is. We've been here in Placencia for a while now. We have done some snorkeling (and got our first lobsters!). Hal & Lynn took us out to dinner at a great little Italian restaurant on the beach called Trattatoria. Blow Me Away arrived and we've all been having a great time. Went to Sugar Reef for the horseshoe tournament. I didn't score a point, but we had a great time and got to know several of the locals. Had a group happy hour at the Pickled Parrot with Suenos, Tranquility, Griffin & Blow Me Away. We are ready to head to Guatemala though. Ready for a marina & a real shower. Will probably head out tomorrow with Blow Me Away. Planning to stop along the way at a couple of cayes & maybe Monkey River Town. Want to stock up the freezer with lobster. Oh, yeah, guess what's for dinner tonight! Lobster ... yum..... June 19-20: Placencia to Little Monkey BayLeft Placencia with Blow Me Away. Didn't go far today, but storms are approaching again. We had planned to possibly go to some of the cayes and catch lobster, but the weather just keeps getting worse. Spent the first night with thunderstorms & got up the next morning to thunderstorms so we decided to stay put. June 21: Little Monkey Bay to Cabos Tres Puntas, GuatemalaWe motored thru a river of trash to get to Cabos Tres Puntas. With all the rains, the trash is washing out of the mountains, down the river, and into the Yucatan. We had to keep watch for large trees that floated by. Tons of plastic bottle caps, shoes, and just general trash ... really makes you think about the amount of trash that we generate. We sat thru the worst thunderstorm we have ever sat at anchor in and it lasted just about all night long. Luckily we didn't have to worry too much if we drug as there was about 9 miles of deep water behind us! We did spend a sleepless night at anchor though. View Belize Photo Galleries
