Dutch Babies - A German Pancake Printable Version of this Recipe

Contributed by:  Tami's Aunt Mary & Uncle Ronn

At a recent family reunion, Aunt Mary made this for everyone.  It was a total hit.  Some ate it with syrup, but I at it without and it was delicious.  Mary served it with a mixed fruit salad of blueberries,Ronn & Mary apples, bananas & raisins sprinkled with a small amount of sugar.  Yum.

  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • powdered sugar, optional (I recommend it)
  • maple syrup, optional

Put 1/2 stick butter in 8x13x2 Pyrex dish; Preheat oven to 400 and place dish in oven.  Butter should completely melt.

In mixer beat 3 eggs, add 3/4 cup flour, 3/4 cup milk and 3 T sugar.  Beat until well mixed. Pour mixture into buttered Pyrex dish.  Do not mix melted butter with mixture.

Bake at 400 degrees about 20 minutes or until mountains form.  (We start watching it at 15 minutes and usually take it out a little before 20.) Sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve with warm maple syrup.

Good with mixed fruit and champagne.

Serves 2 to 3
